What is a pergola?
A pergola is a modern patio that provides protection from the sun and rain, while creating an exclusive outdoor space. The pergola can be delivered with motorized or manual roof slats, fabric roofs, glass walls and screens, so that it can be adapted to your needs.
What is the difference between motorized and manual roof slats?
Motorized slats are easily controlled with a remote control or switch and can be adjusted continuously according to the weather conditions. Manual slats are opened and closed with a crank. Both solutions provide good control over sun, shade and ventilation.
Is the pergola waterproof?
Yes, when the roof slats or fabric are completely closed, the pergola protects against normal rainfall. The rainwater is directed through an integrated drainage system in the roof and further down through the posts.
Can the pergola withstand Norwegian weather?
Yes. The pergolas are developed for Nordic conditions and are made of powder-coated aluminum that requires minimal maintenance. In the event of very heavy snowfall, we recommend keeping the slats open or removing snow from the roof to reduce the load.
What is the difference between a pergola with a slatted roof and a pergola with a fabric roof?
A slatted roof consists of adjustable aluminum slats that can be opened and closed as needed. A fabric roof pergola has a weather-resistant textile fabric that is pulled in and out. Both provide effective sun protection, but a slatted roof provides better control over ventilation and light.
Can the pergola be delivered with glass walls?
Yes. Several of our models can be delivered with sliding glass walls that provide good protection against wind and rain, while preserving the view.
Can the glass walls be opened?
Yes. The glass walls are delivered as sliding systems so that they can be easily opened when you want more air or a more open solution.
What is a side screen?
A side screen is a vertical screen that moves up and down. It protects against sun, wind, light rain and visibility, while allowing air to pass through.
Can I combine glass walls and screens?
Yes. Many people choose a combination of glass walls on one or more sides and screens on the other sides. This provides maximum flexibility throughout the year.
Does the pergola need to be anchored?
Yes. The pergola should always be mounted on a stable foundation and anchored securely. A concrete slab, terrace or perimeter wall are the most common solutions.
Can the pergola be mounted on a wooden terrace?
Yes, as long as the terrace has sufficient load-bearing capacity and the construction is solid enough to withstand the load from the pergola.
Does the pergola require a lot of maintenance?
No. The aluminum profiles require minimal maintenance. We recommend cleaning the profiles, roof and any glass surfaces a couple of times a year and checking that the drainage is free of leaves and dirt.
Can the pergola be used all year round?
Yes. The pergola can be used all year round, but comfort will naturally vary with the season and temperature. Many people choose to supplement with glass walls, screens or patio heaters to extend the outdoor season.
Is the pergola windproof?
No pergola is completely windproof. Glass walls and screens significantly reduce wind, but in extreme weather it is recommended to open the screens and follow the recommendations in the user manual.
Can I assemble the pergola myself?
Yes. The pergola comes with assembly instructions, and many people choose to assemble it themselves. We recommend that at least two people carry out the assembly.
How long does the assembly take?
The assembly time varies by size and model, but most pergolas are assembled within one to two days by two people.
Can I retrofit glass walls or screens later?
Yes. On several of our models, both glass walls and screens can be retrofitted if you want to upgrade the pergola later.
Does aluminum rust?
No. The pergolas are made of powder-coated aluminum that does not rust. The material is very well suited to the Nordic climate and requires little maintenance.
Does the pergola need electricity?
Only models with motorized slats, LED lighting or electric screens require a power connection. Manual pergolas do not need electricity.
