Terrace awnings
Terrace awnings that provide shade and better comfort on the patio
A terrace awning provides effective sun protection and makes it more comfortable to use the terrace on hot days. In this category you will find both full cassette and semi-cassette, as well as models with a motor and remote control, so you can easily adjust the shade as needed.
Terrace awning that withstands Nordic weather
When choosing a terrace awning, it is smart to look for solid materials that work well in changing weather. If you choose a model with a cassette, you get extra protection for the fabric and mechanics when the awning is not in use, which can provide a longer lifespan and less maintenance.
Full cassette or semi-cassette, what is the difference?
Full cassette means that the fabric is fully retracted and is protected when the awning is closed. It is a good choice if the awning is exposed to the weather, or if you want maximum protection for the fabric and mechanics.
Semi-cassette also provides protection, but not as full encapsulation as full cassette. It can be a practical solution when you want the cassette look and protection, while also wanting a more affordable option.
Motor and remote control, easy operation in everyday life
Patio awnings with a motor provide easy control, and with a remote control you can quickly pull the awning out and in according to the sun conditions. This makes it easier to use the awning actively throughout the day, without having to crank it manually.
Fabric and materials, UV protection and good quality
The fabric is of great importance for both comfort and durability. Acrylic fabric is a common choice because it is durable and well suited for outdoor use. Choose a fabric that provides good UV protection, so that you have a more pleasant outdoor environment when the sun is shining.
Choose the right size of patio awning
The right width and projection are about how much of the patio you want to cover. Measure the facade where the awning will be installed, and think about where you want the shade, for example over a dining area or sofa group. It is worth planning space for the doorway and furniture, so that the awning works well in practice.
Protection from the sun, and light rain when the weather changes
A patio awning provides effective protection from strong sun and can also help to protect the patio during light rain. In strong winds, the awning should always be retracted to reduce strain and wear.
FAQ about patio awnings
What is the difference between a full cassette and a semi-cassette?
A full cassette completely encloses the fabric when the awning is closed, while a semi-cassette provides partial protection. A full cassette is often a good choice when you want the most protection from the weather.
Do patio awnings have a motor and remote control?
Many models come with a motor and remote control, which makes it easy to adjust the shade during the day.
What size patio awning should I choose?
Measure the width of the area you want to cover, and consider how far out on the patio you need shade. Also consider space for a doorway and furniture, so that the awning provides shade where you actually sit.
Can a patio awning withstand rain and wind?
Patio awnings are primarily sun protection, but can provide shade in light rain. In windy conditions, the awning should be retracted to avoid damage and unnecessary wear.
Can I install the patio awning myself?
Many people can install it themselves if they follow the installation instructions and use the correct fasteners for the wall type. If you are unsure about attaching it to a facade, it may be a good idea to get help.
How do I maintain a patio awning?
Keep the cassette clean of dirt, let the fabric dry before retracting it completely if it has become wet, and regularly check that the fasteners are secure. This can contribute to a longer lifespan and a more attractive appearance over time.
